Enerchy is a South African energy technology platform that connects distributed energy systems—such as solar, batteries, EV chargers and smart loads—to networks and energy markets. It helps asset owners improve returns, gives network operators access to flexible capacity and enables distributed energy to be traded.

A virtual power plant, or VPP, brings many smaller energy systems together so they can be monitored and coordinated as one larger resource. This allows individually small systems to provide meaningful capacity to networks and energy buyers.

Enerchy works with prosumers, network operators, fleet managers, technology providers, electricity traders, buyers, distributors and existing VPP operators.

Prosumer Booster has three modes that you can choose from:

SAVE mode and EARN mode dynamically adjust your system in response to changing weather, tariffs and energy use. It can capture more solar, shift flexible loads and ensure you use as little grid power as possible and only when it is most affordable.

Yes. You set the rules, including the minimum battery levels you want and boundary conditions for smart devices such as geyser controllers and EV chargers.

Participating systems can be coordinated to flatten morning and evening peaks, absorb excess midday solar, smooth demand ramps and respond to local congestion events. This can reduce peaking demand charges and also help defer infrastructure upgrades driven primarily by peak demand.

No. Enerchy is designed to work across multiple inverter and smart device brands. Additional OEMs and vendors are being added all the time, so let us know if there is one that you want enabled.

Block trading combines electricity from many smaller distributed systems into larger, scheduled blocks of energy that buyers and traders can transact with.

Potential participants include licenced traders, distributors and large energy buyers looking for additional wheeled supply. Block trading is anticipated to be enabled in the nascent South African Wholesale Electricity Market and can contribute to participants meeting their Balance Responsible Party commitments.

Owners of distributed generation and storage can gain a route to buyers they may not be able to reach independently. This may create value from energy that is currently curtailed, underused or not optimised for tariff differences.

Fleet managers such as installers, O&M and EPC providers, asset managers and solar subscription service providers can connect the systems they already manage to the platform. The platform is intended for providers of technologies in the HEMS and DER value chain. This includes inverters, battery management systems, EV charge point providers, geyser controllers, smart meters, home or commercial energy management systems and integrated hardware-and-software platforms. Enerchy’s interoperability interfaces enable you to market-enable your offerings through Enerchy.

Existing VPP operators keep their platform and customer relationships. Enerchy provides transaction and dispatch infrastructure that can connect their fleet to energy buyers and network operators.

Distributed energy is electricity generated, stored or managed close to where it is used. This includes rooftop solar, home and commercial batteries, electric vehicles, smart geysers and other controllable energy systems.

No. Enerchy is a technology-agnostic digital platform. It connects and coordinates compatible systems rather than manufacturing the underlying hardware.

A consumer only buys electricity. A prosumer can also generate, store, manage and potentially sell electricity using assets such as solar panels, batteries, an EV or a smart geyser controller.

There are different dashboards for different products and services:
Prosumer: My Plant & Deep Dive dashboards show you your historical and forecast costs and savings against your baseline, including what you could be saving in SAVE mode and if you export to the grid, daily, monthly and annually. You can see your tariffs and battery behaviour over time and any grid outage situations and estimated remaining battery time.
My VPP dashboard shows the aggregated storage and dispatchable capacity of a virtual power plant, its current grid power, battery power, generation and smart load power, historical and forecast time series of aggregated grid power and storage levels. VPP Clients can test custom tariff signals on the forecast.
Portfolio: fleet managers such as installers, O&M providers and asset managers can view all their plants in one place, with plant online status, savings to date and additional available savings in different modes.

You can choose to join a virtual power plant. Enerchy automatically handles dispatch and payment when your spare capacity supports the network or when excess energy is sold to a suitable buyer.

Yes. Battery-only systems may be able to earn from network support, peak shaving, tariff differences and participation in aggregated energy blocks instead of remaining useful only during power outages.

An individual system below 1 MW may be too small to access many energy-market opportunities. When multiple systems are aggregated and dispatched together, they can provide a meaningful block of capacity.
